Buying Property in Mexico - Other Areas?
Great info about buying Mexican property!

In addition to the obvious booming resorts, there are other property areas in Mexico that are well worth careful consideration for the investor. A different region, certainly worth looking at is the Lake Chapala area. In the last ten years, more than 10,000 families and individuals from abroad have purchased property in this area.

Some have purchased properties as retirement and second homes, others have done so as an investment; either way, property in this area has proved to be a solid investment. One of the reasons that this area is so popular is that there is excellent infrastructure, including good road links.

San Miguel is another area in Mexico that is generating a lot of interest. This beautiful, old style city has very strict planning regulations and, as such, has maintained its old style charm, unlike some of the larger bustling resorts. Located on the mountains, in central Mexico, this region offers a completely different experience from the beach resorts.

A rural retreat with plenty of soul is what any purchaser can hope to find in San Miguel. Prices are also very reasonable in this area with a 2500 square foot property available for as little as 150,000 US dollars.

At the other end of the scale is Acapulco, a bustling and active resort popular with younger holiday makers. Literally millions of holidaymakers travel to this buzzing resort, fuelling a very solid holiday let market. Prices are quite high in Acapulco and cheaper property is very hard to come by.

This is partly because buyers, in Acapulco, generally look for luxury properties with their own pool and plenty of space. With this in mind, it is still possible to find a really good deal on a smaller property that will be more than suitable as a holiday let.

If you are looking for a beachside paradise, then it is worth looking towards the Mayan Riviera. Cozumel is one of the more popular islands of the Riviera and is widely considered to be an absolute haven for beach lovers. Cozumel is a relatively small island that is approximately 53 kilometres long and 15 kilometres wide and only 3 percent of the island is developed with property.

It is widely recognised as one of the best five places in the world to visit and, as such, expensive properties are typically the only ones available. Having said this, rental income is extremely solid in Cozumel and the regulations against new buildings mean that prices are likely to rise for the foreseeable future.

Puerto Aventuras is the only gated community in Mexico and offers its own range of beaches, golf courses and luxury properties. Puerto Aventuras is only 45 minutes from Cancun airport and boasts some of the best diving in the world, with fantastic reefs within very easy reach of the shore.

As a gated community, it can be difficult to find suitably priced property, but the rewards are also huge when a property is found. Safe locations and excellent facilities make this a winner with holidaymakers and the rental yield is amongst the highest in the country.

Mexico offers a variety of property investment options that is practically unrivalled across the rest of the world and investors should consider all of their options, before making any decisions!
