Placencia
Peninsula is fast becoming the place to be, attracting tourists and
retirees wanting a quieter pace of life. Buying property on the
Placencia Peninsula, therefore, offers a wealth of opportunities for
the property investor. Whether you are looking for short-term
holiday rentals or longer-term rental prospects, this beautiful
peninsula has it all!
One of
the things that attract tourists is the laid-back, Caribbean-style
living, with clear blue seas and golden beaches. Wildlife is found
in abundance and there are phenomenal diving opportunities to be had
for both beginner and experienced divers.
Most
visitors to the region are travelling specifically to the Placencia
Peninsula area for its superb water sports; there are more than
sixteen miles of sandy beaches and unrivalled coral. This area is
highly protected and there are endless activities for those who wish
to get involved in preservation.
As
well as the superb beaches, the entire Peninsula has the Maya
Mountains as a backdrop, making this one of the most spectacular
places to visit, in Belize. Tourist numbers to this region have
grown by 20 percent, in the last five years, which has further
fuelled the property market. Building and expansion regulations are
very tight in this delicate area, which means that property in the
region has seen a dramatic increase in prices of over 20 percent,
during the last 18 months.
Locating Property in
Belize
One of
the main property development companies is offering land plots with
building opportunities for around £27,000 and house prices starting
at around the £103,000 mark. These prices are quoted for prime
positions around the coveted Placencia lagoon, which is central to
all the beaches, restaurants and shops, as well as offering personal
boat access to every plot.
In
other regions of Placencia, away from the coveted lagoon area, land
plots can be purchased for as little as £16,000 and houses can be
bought for around £40,000.
The
great thing about real estate in Placencia is that the government is
particularly strict, in terms of regulation. Habitat in the area is
very delicate, from the corals to the jungle life; planners are keen
to ensure that the surroundings are not destroyed by
over-development. For this reason, it is likely that the amount of
real estate available will be limited and with demand outstripping
supply, prices are likely to increase over the coming years.
Getting to Placencia will become increasingly easy, with the drive
from Belize City Airport taking around 4 hours. Visitors,
nevertheless, may choose to arrive by boat which is a more scenic
and adventurous way to travel! Another option is to fly directly to
Placencia
Airport. This airport currently is quite limited; however, the
government of Belize is investing hugely in both
Belize City
and Placencia airports and the links are set to improve, in the
coming years.
Placencia is a paradise resort, with both beaches and jungles to
tempt travellers and retirees alike, together with the security of a
central American government and political and economic stability.
With property prices in the region growing, at a steady rate,
Placencia is hard to ignore!
