Moving
towards
Belize City,
the country begins to develop a more cosmopolitan feel. In this
district, tourists and residents alike will find all of the
traditional government buildings and tourist attractions that one
would expect to find, such as a zoo. As with most capital cities,
this city is the central hub for its country and, as such, is also
the area that generally attracts the wealthy locals. If, when buying
property in Belize, you want to look at letting your property out on
a more long-term basis to wealthy residents, then heading towards
the capital city is always a good idea. As well as the large number
of attractions in the region, the country’s largest airport is
situated less than 10 miles out of the centre, offering easy access
for quick getaways.
Once
you head down towards the South, you will find that you are
surrounded by absolutely stunning islands (or cayes) of varying
sizes. Water sports are the main focus of these cayes and, with
Belize boasting the second largest barrier reef in the world, it is
easy to see why divers and snorkelers are keen to visit the area.
The largest of all of the cayes is the Ambergris Caye, which is
favoured by many tourists because of its wonderful sloping beaches
and proximity to the coral reef. Ambergris Caye has its own mini
capital called San Pedro, which caters well for tourists and those
buying property in the area, with a wide variety of bars,
restaurants and clubs.
The
largest of all the cayes, Ambergris Caye, is renowned for its
beaches and proximity to the coral reef. From here, you can indulge
any wet adventure you can dream up; sport fishing, scuba diving,
snorkelling and manatee watching are among the most popular. San
Pedro, the caye's hub, offers any variety of accommodation,
restaurants, bars and nightlife.
As
well as the larger cayes, there are also hundreds of smaller cayes,
many o f which are uninhabited - and for sale.
On the
western interior of Belize, there is Cayo which has a host of jungle
and tropical areas; a real retreat and ideal for those who want to
get closer to nature. Holidaymakers love this region and, if buying
property in Belize, this area, although rather widespread at 1500
square miles, should not be overlooked.
If you
are after adventure, then head to Southern Belize and the Toledo
district. Mayan influences are once again strong in this region, but
there are also plenty of rivers, cayes, wildlife and plants to
entertain and amuse.
Quite simple, buying property in Belize is an adventure of
discovery. Just about anybody can find a location, in Belize, that
will capture their hearts and imaginations. What are you waiting
for?
